Installation Notes:
Q: Do I have to cut or weld to install the Mercedes G550 44 European Version Rear Guard/Rear Skid Plate?
A: According to one of our Dealers that has installed 3 of these: No cutting, welding, or massaging anything. It was a direct replacement. You have to drop the complete (existing) assembly down, and then the Rear Guard bolts right up, using the existing hardware and the existing holes. One footnote: 1) there are some brackets that serve as support/spacers between the guard and the body.
Q: Do we have to remove the wheels in order to thread the bar through that acts as a support for the rear guard?
A: You can, or you can jack the body up about 6 and it will clear the tire without removing the wheels.
